Time for beach trips and some toes in the sand! If there was ever a time to read a good book, somehow the beach and books simply go together.
Some of us like mystery, fiction, romance-- a real escape from the ordinary. But if you're like me, books about historical people are instructive and thought provoking.
I'd like to mention a few books you might appreciate this Summer. I'm not going to do a critical analysis of the book, I'm simply going to list some of the ones I've read and enjoyed.
Recently, I read Pulitzer Prize Winner Jon Meacham's book "His Truth is Marching On: John Lewis and The Power of Hope" giving us a glimpse into the Congressman and Civil Rights activist. It's a powerful story of suffering hope and redemption.
Some others I'd suggest:
Being John Lennon by Ray Connolly
Citizen Cash The political life and times of Johnny Cash by Michael Foley
The Name of God is Mercy by Pope Francis
My Cross to Bear by Gregg Allman
Bobby Kennedy by Chris Matthews
You can't go wrong with any of these books, so find you a nice beach chair and umbrella and a cold drink and read!!
Happy Summer
